ECOWAS, partners back NCPWD’s 2026 disability inclusion plan
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and other development partners have pledged support for the implementation of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities’ (NCPWD) 2026 work plan aimed at deepening disability inclusion across Nigeria.
Representing the Executive Secretary of the commission, Ayuba Burki Gufwan, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Aliyu Agwai, said the meeting was aimed at reviewing progress on key activities, identifying implementation challenges and strengthening coordination among stakeholders.
He also highlighted the proposed National Disability Management Information System (NDMIS), which he described as a flagship initiative of the commission.
According to him, the database will strengthen evidence-based decision-making and improve the commission’s capacity to monitor disability inclusion nationwide.
