Leading ADP Candidate for Ona Ara Constituency Calls for Peace, Truth and Credible Electoral Process

OSOGBO / IBADAN — Saturday, 15 August 2026

As Osun State residents head to the polls to exercise their constitutional right to vote, Hon. Ismaeel Sodiq Opeyemi ELEGE, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) candidate for Ona Ara Constituency, has urged voters, journalists, political actors and all stakeholders to prioritize peace, truth, responsibility and credible reporting throughout the electoral process.

Hon. ELEGE called on residents to vote wisely and make decisions based on competence, character, vision and the overall interest of the people. He also appealed to all political parties and their supporters to shun violence, intimidation, vote-buying and every action capable of undermining democracy.

According to him, elections should never be treated as a war or an avenue for spreading unverified information.

“Every stakeholder must intentionally pursue anything that guarantees a peaceful, freer and fairer process today in Osun State. Election is not war. Please desist from the urge to ‘break’ the news without facts. There is no trophy or award for rushing fake results.”

He particularly urged journalists, bloggers and media organizations to prioritize verification over virality, stressing that unverified election information can create unnecessary tension and confusion.

“Intentionality must be deposited towards verifying everything you are sharing as news or information. You have a responsibility like everyone else. Kindly do yours and let’s hold others accountable to do theirs.”

Hon. ELEGE further encouraged the people of Osun State to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding, while urging voters to protect their votes through peaceful and lawful participation.

He said the outcome of the election should reflect the genuine will of the people through a transparent, free, fair and organized process.

“Today’s result, under a free, fair and organized process, must define what the people want. Above all else, kindly vote, stay safe, and go home peacefully if you have any doubt at all.”

The ELEGE Visionary Team reaffirmed its commitment to issue-based politics, democratic accountability, peaceful engagement and people-oriented leadership, emphasizing that the lessons from the Osun election will be significant as Nigeria approaches the 2027 electoral cycle.
